Professor Gavin Parker was an invited speaker at the Neighbourhood Planners: London conference held in Waterloo on Wednesday 21 September.

He spoke about emerging neighbourhood policy change from government and how it will impact the sector, and he explored the Neighbourhood Priority Statements which are a part of the emerging policy suite of the Levelling Up Bill.

The Neighbourhood Planners conference is the largest volunteer-led neighbourhood planning event in England and brings together neighbourhood planners from across London.

Long term research activity in the REP department here at Henley has focussed on this area of policy, with Gavin Parker’s research recently cited in the House of Lords. Recognition of this work is also discernible in the Government’s Levelling Up policy proposals.

Other speakers were from the Department for Levelling-up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) and local neighbourhood forums and groups. Details of the event and other materials are available on the Neighbourhood Planners: London website.
